Primary Program at Paradigm Educational Center, Inc.

Montessori educational approach is comprehensive from birth and the benefits are remarkable.  Children in a Montessori classroom learn by making their own discoveries with materials designed to cultivate concentration, motivation, self discipline and a life-long love of learning. Our Montessori environment has many specially created materials designed to enhance the development and invite the child to learn.

Each child benefits from the freedom to
learn at their own pace with the emphasis being on their inner work cycle.  Montessori materials and the peaceful, respectful environment does much to enhance the learning experience at its core.  Children work on self confidence and their self-esteem while also working on increasing their attention span.

Consistent with the philosophical emphasis on experiential learning, Paradigms environment does not consist on centers but rather areas in which the children may work.  Our children become self-activated learners at work in an environment of prepared material.

Children need multisensory experience. An essential aspect of early childhood development is the multiple sources of information which young children receive during their daily round of activities. Building various-sized blocks into a sequential tower, for example, involves much more than the visual sense. The child also experiences the heft of a block, the feel of the dimensions in the hand, the sound of disaster when the tower crashes down, the joy of victory when delicately placing the smallest block on top, watching it teeter, then hold. Each part of this experience is teaching a child something different about the material world. The child learns about weight, dimension, rudimentary geometry and gravity, among other pieces of information. A computer game trying to teach a similar sequencing concept involves only the visual sense, with perhaps some auditory feedback – a much less enriching experience for the child.

Our primary care and learning program caters to children from 3 years to 6 years of age. This program continues to build on self-care, independence, and self-confidence. In the primary program, children engage in all five areas of the classroom: Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Cultural.
